Emily Ingalls | Owner & CEO of West Coast Soccer Academy

Hi! I’m Emily Ingalls, and I’m the proud founder of West Coast Soccer Academy — a program born from a teacher’s passion and a soccer player’s heart.

As an elementary school teacher, I kept hearing the same thing from families:

➡️ “We want a soccer program that’s better quality, more convenient, and still affordable.”

So, I built it. I launched my first after-school soccer program while teaching in Molalla — and later, expanded summer camps while teaching in Portland. What started with just a few kids quickly grew to 150+ enrolled players at one school alone! Now, West Coast Soccer Academy is thriving with programs across Portland and Southern Washington

And we’re just getting started. 🚀

I hold a Master’s in Early Childhood Education and a Bachelor’s in Early Childhood Psychology. As a former varsity soccer player and collegiate athlete at Western Oregon University, I bring the mindset of an educator, the heart of a coach, and the drive of a competitive player to everything we do at WCSA. Let’s build something great together!

Coach Mo- Coaches Manager

With almost a decade of coaching experience, Morgan Richards brings energy, professionalism, and a deep love for the game to every field she steps on. She has coached players from pre-k to the collegiate level, with past roles at Eugene Metro Futbol Club, Umpqua United FC, Lane Community College, and the Portland Thorns Academy. Morgan played collegiately as a center back and holding-mid at Lane Community College and Willamette University. Morgan holds a USSF D License and is passionate about helping young athletes grow both as players and as people.

At WCSA, Morgan oversees coach recruitment, training, and development. Known for her approachable coaching style she’s driven by the belief that every child deserves access to high-quality coaching in a fun, supportive environment. Her sessions have an emphasis on creativity, adaptability, and emotional resilience—on and off the ball.

Katie Ray- Administrative Coordinator

Katie Ray brings a unique set of skills to the WCSA team. Her love of soccer began in 5th grade and she continued playing non-stop until she graduated high school. Her professional experience combines 10 years working in tourism and hospitality with 18 years of childcare experience.

Katie has a bachelor's degree from Webster University where she also began her career in childcare by babysitting her professor's children. She quickly fell in love with child development and continued working with children as a nanny while pursuing a career in tourism, hospitality and customer relations. In 2016, she moved to Oregon and began working as a teaching assistant.

In 2018, she started her own family and worked as a tutor, while being a stay-at-home mom, before becoming a soccer coach for her friend Emily Ingalls and her small after-school soccer program in 2023.

Katie Ray has since taken a role behind the scenes to help West Coast Soccer Academy become a success. She has been integral in our day to day operations, HR, organization, and communications with parents, schools and coaches. When she isn't taking care of her two children, she welcomes any questions you may have. She loves working for Emily and whole-heartedly believes in our mission for education, soccer and fun.

Victor AmbarD- Coach

Victor Ambard brings a wealth of international experience to West Coast Soccer Academy. Growing up in Portland, he played for ADF, United PDX, and was a standout in the Oregon ODP program. At 15, he moved to Spain to train with top academies including Levante U.D., Tomares U.D., and Espartinas C.F. His playing career also took him to Sweden, Poland, and Colombia, where he competed in the third division through 2025 before returning home to focus on coaching.

Having lived and played in multiple countries, Victor developed not only technical skill but also a deep understanding of the mental and emotional challenges athletes face. Fluent in Spanish and comfortable adapting to new environments, he brings a unique perspective to his coaching—one rooted in resilience, professionalism, and a global view of the game.

At WCSA, Victor is a thoughtful and passionate coach who meets players where they’re at. He focuses on position-specific development, encouraging each player’s individual strengths while helping them build confidence and consistency. Whether working with beginners or advanced players, Victor creates an environment where athletes feel supported, challenged, and motivated to grow on and off the field.

Coach Kal

Soccer is an instrumental aspect of Coach Kal’s life, as she began playing at 5 years old. She began at a recreational league and progressed her soccer career into competitive teams in Oregon, Idaho, and Washington. Her skills were best displayed as she played striker for various clubs and her High School team.

Kal focuses on cultivating a balanced training experience with each player, adapting to each individuals needs. She believes in a positive experience and helping players learn to love the sport in their own way. Kal says that everyone possesses different skillsets and that is what ultimately creates a well rounded team.

From the basics to technical skills and advancement, coach Kal develops new players into confident future team mates. A focus area she strives to instill is a respectful, supportive, and continually improving atmosphere to include every level of player.

Coach Kal is available for private and small group sessions within 35 minutes of Northern Vancouver such as Battleground, Ridgefield, Camas, and Northern Portland.
